Villager charged in connection with incident in Cockfield

ASSAULT CHARGE: A man is to appear in court next week charged in connection with an alleged assault in a County Durham village.

Police were called to a disturbance in Cockfield, near Bishop Auckland, on Sunday evening which resulted in a 66-year-old man suffering cuts to his face and bruises to his body.

Two days later, the 22-year-old suspect, who also lives in the village, was arrested and charged with common assault.

He is due to appear before Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court on Friday, March 15.
