Public warned not to approach wanted teen

THE public are being urged not to approach a teenager wanted in connection with an unprovoked attack on a woman.

Police want to speak to Ashley Paul Watson, 18, in connection with an incident in Ripon in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 20-year-old woman received serious facial injuries in the assault, which happened at a property on Lead Lane.

Watson is described as about 5ft 10in tall with a medium build and short dark brown hair.

Detective Inspector Karen Warner said: “Ashley, if you see or hear this appeal I strongly urge you to make contact with the police. You are aware that we need to speak to you and you maybe placing others at risk of prosecution by not cooperating.

“I am also asking anyone who knows where Ashley is to contact the police straight away. It is important that anyone assisting or shielding Ashley is aware that they themselves maybe committing an offence.”

Members of the public are urged not to approach Watson, but to contact the police straight away if they see him.

Contact police on 101, select option one and pass information to the force control room. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.

Rather meaningless article without a mug-shot the teenager in question. Or do the police not want to release one in case he ends up getting a taste of his own medicine?
