RAILWAY RAMBLE: Senior countryside ranger Ross Carrick leads an eight-mile walk along a stretch of former rail line in Teesdale, County Durham, on Friday (March 8). Walkers should meet at the entrance to Teesdale Leisure Centre, Barnard Castle, at 11am. Parking is available in the main car park on Strathmore Road, off the B6278. The walk, classed as ‘medium/long’, is expected to take four hours to complete.
GUITAR SHOW: More than 50 exhibitors will display their wares at the 11th Newcastle Guitar Show, at the Lancastrian Suite, at the old Federation Brewery, in Dunston, Gateshead, on Sunday March 17. The show, running from 10am - 4pm, will offer the chance to buy, sell and trade new, vintage and second-hand guitars, amps, effects and accessories. Legendary blues rocker John Verity, former front man of Argent, will play live on his signature Fret-King guitar, while four-piece band TAB, featuring the North-East’s own virtuoso guitarist/vocalist Tom Atkinson, debuting songs from a new EP.
