Medieval treat in Stockton library

MEDIEVAL THRILLER: An evening of mayhem, murder and magic will take place at Stockton’s Central Library. Visitors can meet Devon novelist Michael Jecks, who is known as the master of the medieval murder mystery, while Karen Maitland is an award winning writer of medieval thrillers the latest of which is Falcons of Fire and Ice. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 13 at 7pm. Tickets costing £5 are available from the Visitor Information Centre, Rediscover Stockton Shop on Stockton High Street, telephone 01642-528130 or call into any branch library in Stockton Borough.

LIGHTS OUT: THE Tees Transporter Bridge will be plunged into darkness in support of Climate Week, which runs until Sunday, March 10. The historic landmark’s floodlights will be turned off throughout the week to raise awareness of the campaign. The black-out is just one of a wider range of activities supported by the bridge, currently undergoing renovation work as part of a £2.6m Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
