Police arrest two men after mass brawl at York railway station

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a brawl between two groups of men at one of the region’s busiest stations.

Two people were arrested after some 10 to 12 people were involved in the fight in the waiting room on platforms ten and 11 on York Station at about 8.10pm on Saturday.

The two arrested – both 21 and from Stockton-on-Tees - have since been released on police bail.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “It appears an altercation between two groups took place, and the fight was stopped when police officers and members of the public intervened.

“Police are asking anyone who was at the station at the time, or who has any information about the incident to come forward.

“We have already made two arrests in connection with the incident, but need to identify others who may be responsible.”
