STAFF at a Richmond tea rooms will be stepping up to the mark to raise cash for charity throughout March.
Cath Muir, owner of the Cross View Tea Rooms in the town’s Market Place, said she has challenged customers to guess how far the staff in the shop will walk while at work this month in a “Mad March-athon.”
Mrs Muir has chosen the Great North Air Ambulance to support.
She said: “I have issued each member of staff a pedometer and have created a chart with various distances on so people can take a guess at how far we will walk.
“I did a trial day to estimate how far we would go and hopefully we will raise around £1,000 for the Great North Air Ambulance – hopefully with £500 from customers and then we will match that.”
The fundraising drive is to mark the cafe’s 10th anniversary.
Mrs Muir said there would be a prize for the winning guess, and there will be a raffle ongoing in March.
Cross View Tea Rooms is at 38-39 Market Place, Richmond, and can be contacted on 01748-825897.
