Students' art work goes on display in Middlesbrough
5:34pm Monday 4th March 2013 in News
ART enthusiasts are being invited to a special exhibition overlooking an iconic Teesside sculpture this week.
Ten BA (hons) fine art students in their second year at Teesside University are opening the doors to their showcase in Fabrick Housing Group’s events space at its Hudson Quay office in Middlesbrough from Thursday (March 7).
Andrea Wells, one of the students exhibiting her work, said: “We chose this venue space because of its location in an exciting regeneration area of the town and also because Anish Kapoor’s famous Temenos piece of artwork lends itself as a wonderful backdrop to our artwork.
“The exhibition is all about the appreciation of art through the senses so is open to the viewer’s interpretation. It is a free exhibition so just come along and enjoy it.”
‘Perception 2013’ will be open free to the public from 10.30am-4.30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and will include oil paintings, print making, photography, sculpture and film as part of an assessment towards the degree.
The event will include a silent auction, with all proceeds going to the Middlesbrough Foodbank at Middlesbrough Community Church, St Aiden’s Centre.
Tea and coffee will be on offer and parking for the exhibition will be available at the venue on Windward Way on Saturday, March 9 but visitors are asked to park in nearby car parks on Thursday 7 and Friday 8.
