A NEW-look mini-golf course is set to bring a seasonal jobs boost.
Work is progressing well on the £70,000 nine-hole Barnard Castle course, which forms part of a wider scheme of improvements on the town's Scar Top area.
Eggleston-based sculptor Phil Townsend has also started work creating six iconic representations of famous Teesdale landmarks carved out of sandstone which will be displayed on the course.
And tonight (Monday, March 4) town councillors are being asked to give the go-ahead for the recruitment of three attendants to staff the new golf course when it opens in June.
If the proposal is agreed, they will join the existing attendant and work as two teams of two.
Town clerk Michael King said: “The course will open on weekends, bank holidays and in line with school holidays.
“The four attendants will work in two teams with each operating day being split into an early and late shift. Each team will work on a week on/week off basis.”
Subject to agreement at tonight's full town council meeting, the vacancies will be advertised immediately.
