North-East youngsters to star in biggest ever performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats

BRITAIN’S biggest ever performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats will include 52 youngsters from the North-East.
The students, from Stagecoach Theatre Arts schools in Darlington and Yarm, are taking part in a special performance of the musical to celebrate Stagecoach’s 25th anniversary.
The main cast will include 50 specially selected dancers and more than 500 singers from 13 Stagecoach schools.
A further 2,500 young performers from a further 47 schools throughout the UK, Malta, Germany and Ireland have also been given a section of the score to perform.
Andrew Lloyd Webber said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that so many young people will be able to take part in this very special performance of Cats.”
Veronica Bennetts, director of education for Stagecoach, said: “To bring together so many students from across the UK, and globally, has truly been team work on a vast scale and the final outcome will be something to remember forever.”
The world-renowned musical will be showcased at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham on Sunday, March 24.
