Good Ofsted report for village primary school

PUPILS at a village school have been praised for their outstanding behaviour as part of a report by Government inspectors.

An Ofsted report was compiled after two days at Brompton Community Primary School, near Northallerton, just before Christmas.

Inspectors wrote: “The children show very high levels of respect for each other and adults.”

About the school in general, they wrote: “This very welcoming and caring school ensures that all pupils thrive and become confident, motivated learners. Most pupils make good progress in all subjects to achieve standards that are above average.

“Teaching is good because teachers have high expectations for pupils’ behaviour and academic achievement.”

Overall, the school has retained its status as good since the last inspection in 2008, having been judged as good in three out of the four main categories: pupil achievement; teaching quality and leadership and management. Behaviour and safety of pupils was rated outstanding.

Joy Rowley, chair of governors, said: “We are extremely proud of the continued success of our school.

“This is due to our very dedicated and forward-thinking head teacher Jane Byrne and her excellent staff team, who work so well with our motivated and happy pupils. Well done to everyone.”
