INQUIRIES are continuing into the theft of hundreds of pounds worth of electrical equipment from the town centre office of Darlington MP Jenny Chapman.

Thieves broke into the property, in Coniscliffe Road, between 6pm on Friday (February 22) and 9.30am on Monday.

Three laptop computers were taken, as well as a digital camera.

Mrs Chapman has described the break-in as “disruptive and annoying”.

PC Gary McLean, who is investigating the incident, said it is likely the thieves broke in through an unsecured window.

He is appealing for witnesses to come forward PC McLean said: “We are still gathering information as regards the property that has been taken.

“There is still quite a wide time period of when it could have occurred .

“I would appeal to anyone who has been offered for sale any laptops or electrical equipment to come forward, or anyone seen paying particular to the area.”

Mrs Chapman’s office is accessed via a narrow alleyway which leads to St Augustine’s Church.

The items stolen include a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 laptop, with the serial number Z8216971Q, a Lenova 3000 and C200 with the serial numbers L3AV102 and L3DG493, plus a red Canon Powershot SX150 camera.
