FOUR sponsored walkers have been helped by mountain rescue teams in the Yorkshire Dales after being reported missing.

The Cave Rescue Organisation and Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team launched searches of the upper Wensleydale area after a report at 4pm on Sunday that a 35-year-old woman with a severe medical condition was lost in woodland by the Cam High Road.

The woman was found at Gearstones, near Hawes, walking on the Roman road, which features the Dales Way and Pennine Way, and said while she was tired, she had no medical condition and had not been lost.

Shortly afterwards, three other members of the sponsored walk were reported missing and following further searches, were found at Beckermonds, in Langstrothdale.

All four walkers were taken to their destination at Ribblehead.
