A NORTH-EAST rugby club hopes to raise thousands of pounds for military charity Help for Heroes at a match this weekend.
Darlington Mowden Park rugby club, which took over the 25,000-seat former Darlington FC stadium earlier this year, has designated Saturday’s (March 2) game against Caldy as Armed Forces day.
Serving or retired forces personnel are invited to attend the fixture, with entrance free for all those wearing military uniform.
A pre-match lunch will be held before the game – tickets cost £25 with all proceeds to the charity.
A similar event last raised more than £2,000 with club bosses hopeful of surpassing that figure this time round.
A limited number of corporate boxes are available, priced £200, which include admission to the game, plus buffet, for ten guests.
