A NORTH-EAST snooker club, which has been shortlisted for a national award, is preparing to celebrate its 98th anniversary this week.
Darlington Snooker Club, in the town’s Corporation Road, has more than 300 members and has won several awards from the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra).
Peter Everett, who has managed the club since 1999 is looking forward to the anniversary on Wednesday (February 27) and is gearing up for its centenary in two years’ time.
Darlington Snooker Club has reached the final four of Camra’s search for the national club of the year for 2012.
The overall result is due this month and will be announced online at camra.org.uk Celebrations for the 98th anniversary will take place on Wednesday evening, when real ale will be available at 98p per half pint and £1.96 per pint.
