POLICE have released an image of a man suspected of committing fraud in Northallerton last December.

The suspect approached a cashier at the B&Q store in Yafforth Road in the town at about 4pm on Saturday, December 22 and asked to change ten £20 notes for £10 notes.

He then appears to have committed a fraud known as ringing the changes – where counterfeit money is swapped for genuine notes – and left the store with £400.

PC Blair Taylor said: “If you are the person caught on camera and there has been some confusion about the exchange of the money, I urge you to come forward so the matter can be cleared up and the money returned to the store.

“I am also asking anyone who recognises the man to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.”

Anyone who can help with this investigation it asked to contact Northallerton police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Blair Taylor, or email blair.taylor@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.

Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111 quoting reference number 12120218784.
