Burning paper pushed through letterbox

Fire crews were called to a house in Ripon just before midnight on Friday (February 22) after reports that lit paper had been put through a letterbox. North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service found there had been a small fire in the corridor of the property on Willow Walk. Smoke alarms alerted the occupants of the house to the fire. The door and doormat were damaged.

ACCOUNTANCY COMPETITION: Accountants are encouraging apprentices to enter a national competition. Anybody on the accountancy, project management and professional services High Apprenticeship programmes can enter 2013 Apprentice Business Challenge championships. Regional heats will be held in Leeds, Birmingham and London on May 21, 22 and 23. The top six teams will then compete in a final in London on July 19.
