PROTEST MARCH: Hundreds of people are expected to take to the streets to make a stand against controversial plans to introduce and enforce parking fees in a seaside town. The walk through Saltburn has been organised by protest group Saltburn and East Cleveland Residents Against Parking Restrictions and will set out from Saltburn Pier’s Lower Promenade car park at 10.30am on Saturday, March 30. Those who cannot manage to walk up Saltburn Bank can join the walk when it reaches the top.

HOUSE FIR:E A property was severely fire damaged as a result of a blaze in a kitchen on Christopher Street in Hartlepool that happened in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, February 24). The kitchen was completely destroyed as a result of the fire and the ground floor of the property was badly smoke damaged. One person was taken to hospital with injuries not related to the fire. No further details were available.

COFFEE MORNING: A coffee morning hosted by Wolviston Court Townswomen’s Guild will be held at the Wolviston Court Community Centre in Billingham on Thursday, March 7 from 10am. Entrance is £1 and includes coffee and a biscuit. There will be a tombola, raffle and a variety of stalls.

HISTORY TALK: A talk entitled Stockton at the Turn of the Century will be delivered by Lynn Lamport at a meeting of the Long Newton History Group on Wednesday, March 13. RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION: A meeting of the new Dales Park Residents Association will take place on Thursday, February 28 from 10.30am until 12 noon at the Meeting House in Hemlington. There will be a coffee morning and a tombola stall at the event. All are welcome.

SHOP CLOSED: The Teesside Hospice Charity Shop at the Parkway Centre in Coulby Newham closed on Saturday, February 23 for refurbishment. It will reopen in two weeks. In the mean time, people can take donations to the branch at 109 Acklam Road, Middlesbrough. Call 01642-811140 with any queries.
