CREATIVITY was doubled at when twins Maya and Isis Kearney took the lead in an arts session.

The girls worked with other local artists to host a day of arts-related activities focusing on young people and visual arts at The Bridge arts centre in Darlington.

Visitors learnt about fantasy and gothic art and took part in henna and clay workshops plus jewellery making and rug making.

Maya and Isis led the sessions as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award programme.

Nick Wallis, Darlington Council’s cabinet member leading on the arts, said: “It’s great to see young people getting involved in the arts in the Darlington and taking a leading role.

“This is a wonderful way for them gain valuable experience, develop their skills and prepare them for arts-related roles, events and activities in the future.”

An exhibition of work by users of The Bridge – Building Bridges – is currently running at the Crown Street Art Gallery in Darlington library until March 28.
