Police hunt for motorist after child injured in accident

POLICE are trying to trace a male motorist who was involved in a collision with an eight-year-old boy.
The youngster suffered a minor foot injury as a result of the accident near to Oliver’s furniture shop, on Galgate, Barnard Castle, County Durham.
The motorist stopped following the accident at 10am today (Thursday, February 21) and took the child to his nearby grandparent’s house.
The driver is in his 60s, of medium build and he was driving a grey saloon type car with a trailer.
PC Jim Edwards, of Barnard Castle Police, said: “Luckily the young boy appears to have only suffered minor injuries.
“It appears the driver has acted in good faith and we wish to speak with him to obtain details to clarify the circumstances of the collision.”
