Redcar Beacon takes another step forward
4:05pm Wednesday 20th February 2013 in News By Joanna Morris
A CONTROVERSIAL seaside development has taken another step forward.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council today announced the new managers of a cafe that will be at the heart of the Redcar Beacon.
The new ‘Seasons’ restaurant will be operated by Ian Woodcock and Jane Gallogly of local company Westbrook Restaurants.
The partners, who run two other branches of Seasons in Richmond and Darlington, were appointed by the council after the opportunity to run the cafe was put out to tender.
Ms Gallogly said the cafe would provide seasonal, locally sourced and home produced food. The menu will offer three hot dishes a day as well as soups, sandwiches and cake.
Councillor Mark Hannon Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration praised the progress of the Redcar Beacon project, saying: “The Beacon is a physical symbol of the fact that the regeneration of Redcar is working. The regeneration is putting millions of pounds into the local economy - whether it is via construction jobs, new businesses moving into the Palace Hub or extra work created by boosting tourism.”
