Town and Village round-up: Stokesley, Northallerton and Thirsk

Northallerton United Reformed Church – Sunday morning worship, commencing at 10am, will be led by Rev Dr Eric Nelson. Following the service there will be an opportunity to purchase fairly traded goods from the Traidcraft stall. On Wednesday, Lent Lunches will be served in the church hall from 12 noon. This will be followed by midweek worship in the church at 1pm, led by Mrs Iris Miller.
Walking group. - Northallerton Ramblers has organised a walk around Reeth on Thursday, February 28. They will meet at 10am Surrender Bridge for a moorland hike. Contact Colin on 01325-466948 for more details.
Health walk. – On Wednesday, February 27, there will be a 30 to 60 minute health walk from Stokesley Health Centre. For more information on Hambleton Strollers’ programme of walks, collect a leaflet from council offices or libraries in the Hambleton area or call 01609-771624 for more information.
Historical film footage. - Stokesley Society is hosting an evening entitled Early Films of Yorkshire by the Yorkshire Film Archive on Monday, February 25. The footage will show what life was like in and around the Hambleton district at the beginning of the 20th century. All the meetings take place in the upper room of Stokesley Town Hall, starting at 7.30pm.
Coffee morning. - Thirsk Athletic Bowls Club is holding a coffee morning at the Club House in Newsham Road, at 10am on Saturday, March 2. A bowls supplier will be in attendance and there will be a cake stall with a tombola and raffle.
Sandhutton
Quiz night. - There will be a quiz night at The Kings Arms in Sandhutton, near Thirsk, on Sunday, March 3 at 7.30pm. Entry is £5 per person. It includes a complementary supper. Proceeds will be donated to St Leonard’s Church.
