A FORMER head of the British secret intelligence service will dispel some myths behind the work of the organisation during a lecture in Barnard Castle next month.

Sir Richard Dearlove, who was head of the service between 1999 and 2004, will give a talk entitled British Intelligence – myths and (some) reality.

Organised by Barnard Castle Rotary Club, the talk will take place at Barnard Castle School on Wednesday, March 6, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are free and available from Michael Hanby Accountant, 8 Galgate, on 01833-638287 or Christine Michaels, 55 The Bank, on 01833-695000.

Donations to the club’s charities will be welcomed on the evening.
