THE plight of a famous fashion designer who survived the Titanic was brought to life at a museum this weekend.
The story of dress designer, Lady Lucy Duff-Gordon, who escaped the ill-fated liner as it began to sink in the North Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912, was performed by actors from The History Wardrobe at Darlington’s Head of Steam museum.
As well as hearing about her plight, visitors also had the chance to see displays of costumes, documents and survivor testimonies from the Titanic.
The show ran alongside the current exhibition at the museum, Titanic: Honour and Glory, which was voted by The Times as one of the country’s top five exhibitions.
