A DAY care service that trains people with disabilities and mental difficulties in woodwork and crafts will hold a spring open day next month.

All are welcome to the event on Saturday, March 9, 11am to 3pm, at Endeavour Woodcraft's based in The Old Fire Station, Ferryhill.

COMMUNITY MEETING: Chilton West Residents Association will meet at Henderson Community House, Coleridge Road, Chilton, on Tuesday, February 26 at 7pm.

CHURCH COURSE: Sedgefield Area Churches Together will look at a course called Glimpses of God during Lent. Sessions will be held at St Mary Magdelene Church, Trimdon, on Tuesdays, 6.30pm; St Edmund’s Church, Sedgefield, Thursdays, 7.45pm; and Fallscroft House, Butterwick Road, Fishburn, on Tuesdays, 7pm (except the second week when it will be on Wednesday, February 27). Sedgefield Methodist Church will hold a Lent quiet morning on Saturday March 2, with bible workshops, from 10am, worship at noon and a faith lunch.

COUNCIL MEETING: Ferryhill Town Council will hold an ordinary meeting on Wednesday, February 20, 7pm, at Ferryhill Town Hall.

FITNESS CLASS: Trimdon Grange Community Centre, Kielder Drive, Trimdon Grange, holds a new Bokwa exercise class on Mondays, 6.15pm to 7.15pm, cost £3.50.

THEATRE DATE: Reform Theatre will present God’s Official, a comic play about football fans who abduct a dodgy referee, at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Wednesday February 27, 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 or £6 for concessions, on 03000-269524 or the website bishopaucklandtownhall.org.uk.

MP SURGERY: North Durham MP Pat Glass will hold a surgery at Crook Civic Centre, in Crook, on Friday, February 22, 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Constituents can book an appointment on 01207-501782.

HELP TO QUIT: Stop smoking advisor June Coburn will offer advice and support to people trying to kick the habit on Mondays, 10.30am to 11.30am, at Trimdon Station Community Centre, Station Road East, Trimdon Station.
