BUS COLLISION: An 86-year-old woman has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a bus in Whitby.
The Great North Air Ambulance took the woman, who had head injuries that were not life-threatening, to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough on Saturday, February 16, and on arrival her condition was described as stable.
MEERKAT MANOR: Kirkleatham Owl Centre, near Redcar, has acquired four baby meerkats and named them after Hollywood stars, the Marx brothers – Groucho, Harpo, Chico and Zeppo.
The meerkats will be making their debut to the public at February half term.
The animals were born at Tropical World in Leeds but because of a growing population there, these four had to be re-homed.
Introductions to the centre’s original meerkats have already started.
A spokesperson for the centre said although it will take time for the group to settle, the early signs are promising.
