A FUNDRAISING cricket challenge saw all members of the family getting involved to keep batting, bowling and guarding the wicket for 24 hours.

Richmondshire Cricket Club held the “crick-athon” at Richmond School sports hall on Saturday, February 16 in a bid to raise funds towards a practice pitch and nets.

The club already has a grant in place for most of the cash, but has to raise £15,000 itself.

Jim White, junior section chairman, said: “We hope to have raised around £3,000 from the event, which went really well.

“The Richmond School sports hall has a viewing level above it so people could watch the action while having something to eat and drink.

“The busiest part of the day was Saturday afternoon when we had kids verses parents, so there was a lot of competition.

“I think we had around 80 people taking part which was fantastic. We want to thank the school for letting us use the great facilities.”
