A TALENTED youngster has been chosen from dozens of hopefuls to perform in a North-East opera production.
Puccini’s Madam Butterfly, the story of a Japanese maiden who catches the attention of an American officer, will be staged at Darlington Civic Theatre on March 12.
Seven-year-old Ethan Talbot, who joined Darlington Youth Theatre in October last year, has been chosen to play Madam Butterfly’s child.
A spokesman for the show said: “He enjoyed being involved with Christmas plays last year and was very excited about being Rudolph for his school play. He also enjoys riding his BMX, building everything and anything with Lego and he enjoys anything to do with Star Wars.”
Madam Butterfly is being staged by the Grand Opera of Belarus.
It is being produced in an opera double-bill with La Boheme, on March 11.
Ticket prices range from £25 to £32 – customers booking to see both operas will be eligible for a £5 discount.
