THE former Harrogate police station will be offered for sale at a public auction, with a guide price of £1.9 million.

Harrogate Borough Council had initially hoped to move into the Great North Road premises, but this was abandoned after the building was given listed status by English Heritage. The auction will be held on February 26, at Leeds United FC’s Elland Road ground.

WATER WORKS: Yorkshire Water contractors will start a six-week £100,000 scheme under Whitby’s Tin Ghaut car park next week to boost the feed from the Endeavour Wharf Pumping Station, on the other side of the harbour, and to improve future maintenance access to the pumping station.

CHARITY MILESTONE: The Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust has recruited the support of 50,000 individuals since it began its work caring for the area’s landscape and communities in 1996. The trust reached its milestone with the help of Alison Miernik, from Knaresborough, who donated to its woodland restoration project.
