INCINERATOR LATEST: Planning permission for a £1.4bn incinerator scheme at Allerton Park, North Yorkshire, has formally been granted, after Communities Secretary Eric Pickles decided not to hold a public inquiry. North Yorkshire County Council is set to finalise its contract with AmeyCespa, while campaigners continue to call for a judicial review into the waste plant.

WITNESS APPEAL: Burglars stole cash, costume jewellery and watches from houses in Back Lane and Long Street, in Topcliffe, near Thirsk, between 10am last Saturday and 11.45am on Monday. Anyone who saw people acting suspiciously in the village should call police on 101.
