BURGLARS who fled when they were disturbed by a householder are now being hunted by police.

The raid took place just after midday on Monday, February 11, at a house on Pennine View, Romanby, Northallerton.

The burglars broke into the house by forcing open a door at the rear of the property but left empty-handed when they were disturbed by a resident who was at home.

PC Quita Passmore said: “This has naturally left the person who disturbed the burglars very shaken.”

She urged anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the are at the time to contact police on 101, select option two and ask for her.

Alternatively information can be emailed or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
