A MAN charged with racially aggravated assault will have his case dealt with at crown court.
John Coglan, 23, of Jedburgh Drive, Darlington, faces a charge of racially or religiously aggravated assault causing actual bodily harm and another of racially or religiously aggravated harassment to cause alarm or distress.
He also faces two theft charges, as well as one charge of assault causing actual bodily harm and another of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
He entered no pleas when he appeared at Darlington Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Tuesday, February 12) and his case was committed to Teesside Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
Mr Coglan was given conditional bail.
