Richmondshire news in brief

Students learning to play a brass instrument at Richmond School were given a special opportunity to learn from and perform with the Prince Bishops Brass ensemble.
The quintet has built a wide repertoire of music, from Renaissance brass, baroque and classical to upbeat jazz and swing arrangements.
After workshops in small groups, focusing on learning and performing a new piece of music, the full group reassembled for a final performance together.
Students who took part in the event ranged from grades one to eight in their chosen instrument.
UNSUNG HEROES: Time is running out for Richmondshire residents to nominate their unsung heroes for an awards scheme.
The district council’s Making a Difference in Richmondshire awards take place next month – with prizes for individuals, businesses and groups that have made a real difference to the area up for grabs.
Anyone can make a nomination but the deadline is Friday, February 22.
Forms are available at www.richmondshire.gov.uk/news-and-publications.aspx, any district council community office in Richmond, Leyburn, Colburn, Reeth and Hawes, or by calling 01748-827090.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in March.
