A FORMER round-the-world cyclist has embarked on his latest tour – around schools in Darlington.
Author and adventurer Alastair Humphreys visited five schools in Darlington on Monday (February 11), to talk to pupils about his cycling adventures.
Pupils from St John’s, St Augustine’s, Mount Pleasant, West Park and Abbey Junior schools received a visit from Yorkshire-born Mr Humphreys as part of their involvement with Darlington Borough Council’s Local Motion project.
Local Motion works with school children across the borough to promote walking and cycling as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Mr Humphreys took four years to complete his cycling expedition of 60 countries across five continents, covering approximately 46,000 miles by bike.
He has also walked across India, rowed the Atlantic and run 150 miles through the Sahara desert.
