POLICE are appealing for information after a man indecently exposed himself in two incidents within minutes of each other.

The first happened at about 10am on Sunday on Racecourse Lane in Northallerton as an elderly woman was walking past the Magistrates’ Court.

A blue estate car pulled up beside her and the man driving the car asked her for directions. As the woman gave him the information she realised that he had exposed himself.

The second incident happened a short time later as three young teenage girls walked along East Road.

A blue estate car stopped by the group and the man began to speak to them, again exposing himself. The girls quickly walked away when they realised what he had done.

The man was in his late 20s to early 30s with brown spiky hair. He was wearing a light coloured shirt and blue jeans.

Police Sergeant Gary Sellers said: “These are shocking and disgraceful incidents, which have naturally left the victims upset.”

He added: “Although this man did not make any attempt to entice any of his victims into the vehicle, Police Community Support Officers are visiting schools in the town to warn pupils what they should do if they are approached. The advice is, walk away from the car and dial 999 immediately.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, select option two and ask for Gary Sellers or e-mail gary.sellers@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
