AN ELDERLY woman has been airlifted to hospital after her car left the road and crashed into a hedge on a country road.
The woman, 72, was transferred from the B1263 between Scorton and North Cowton, North Yorkshire, opposite the entrance to Clarence House, by the Great North Air Ambulance at 11.45am today (Monday, February 11).
Although she is not believed to have life-threatening injuries, she was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough as a precaution.
Ambulances and fire crews arrived at the scene just before 11am, and extracted her from the silver VW Golf.
The road was re-opened at 12.25pm.
