TWO schools held a community lunch for invited guests.

Snape Community and Thornton Watlass Church of England primary schools, which are federated together, opened their doors to members of their respective villages.

The visitors were given lunch, had a tour of the school, and were treated to some singing.

Diane Nicholson who was one of the guests, said: “It is lovely to see all the children and keep up to date with what is happening here. “ Chef Karen Paling, who was celebrating her birthday the same day, prepared meals at both schools for the visitors, staff, and children. The visitors and children sang her an appropriate rendition of Happy Birthday.

Carol Brotherton, executive headteacher, said: “This was an opportunity for the community to stay in touch with the children, look round the local school, reminisce on their childhood and to create a real community spirit with a delightful home-cooked lunch.

We want the school to be the heart of the village.”
