POLICE have named the man whose death is the subject of a murder investigation in Middlesbrough.

David Stuart Clark, 33, was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after an incident in Cornforth Avenue in the town in the early hours of Saturday  morning.

He died later that afternoon at James Cook University Hospital and a murder inquiry was launched.

A 38-year-old Middlesbrough man, who is understood to be a family member living nearby, was subsequently arrested and is still being questioned by Cleveland Police detectives.

Tributes on social networking sites poured in for Middlesbrough-born Mr Clark yesterday, describing him as a “genuinely nice guy” and “a lovely, decent lad”.

A former pupil of Keldholme Comprehensive, Middlesbrough, he is understood to have lived in Darlington until recently, where he ran a catering business.
