PUPILS at a Darlington school have joined forces with local fashion businesses to raise funds with a charity catwalk show.
Polam Hall, in Grange Road, Darlington, will host a fashion show on Valentine’s Day to raise funds to support a charity in Uganda, with 40 sixth form students modelling and working backstage.
Clothes retailers from around Darlington have offered outfits.
The school hopes to raise more than £1,000 in aid of Kagando Care, which supports the life-saving work of a Ugandan hospital and orphanage school.
The charity was chosen by Polam Hall’s sixth form after a family friend of one of its students hosted a presentation at the school about a recent visit to Uganda and the work of Kagando Care.
John Moreland, headmaster at the school, said: “Not only will the fashion show raise funds for a very important charity, it will also teach our pupils some new skills and give them valuable experience in showing them what can be achieved by working as a team.”
Tickets for the event, which starts at 7pm on Thursday, February 14, are available from Polam Hall’s senior and junior schools and cost £5.
