FUEL POVERTY: A total of 18 per cent of households in the borough of Stockton have been designated ‘fuel poor’ by Stockton Borough Council. That means the properties are not energy efficient and the household has a low income. The authority gained funding from the Government to help make homes better insulated last year and at a cabinet meeting last week agreed to keep dealing with the problem, despite cut backs.

WORLD CUP: Seven young people’s charities in Hartlepool could be set to receive a further cash boost thanks to 1966 World Cup hat-trick hero Geoff Hurst. It follows the donation of a limited edition Geoff Hurst framed commemorative foot cast to help raise money for Hartlepool Borough Council’s Chairman’s seven nominated charities. It’s hoped the cast will raise at least £500. Anyone interested in viewing or purchasing the framed foot cast should contact Hartlepool Council on 01429-523702.
