HISTORY DAY: Local history enthusiasts are invited to attend the 16th annual day school jointly organised by the Cleveland and Teesside Local History Society and Teesside University on Saturday, March 9. This year’s theme ‘Conflict in Cleveland and Beyond’ will appeal to anyone who would like to know more about local periods of discord and rebellion. The event is being held in the University’s Europa Building from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Further details, including entrance fees and the topics timetable can be obtained from Jennifer Dobson either by e-mailing j.dobson@tees.ac.uk or by calling 01642-384689.

SPIRITUAL READING: Local churchgoers are once again being invited to hear two familiar Teesside voices reading part of the Bible. Canon Gerard Robinson, the Dean of Middlesbrough Cathedral and Mark Turnbull, who are both former BBC Tees broadcasters, will once again join forces to give local people a spiritual treat. The two, who successfully raised more than £600 for the Torch Trust for the Blind in December by reading the Gospel of Luke, will be reading the whole 21 chapters of the Gospel of John at Middlesbrough Cathedral on February 16 from 11am.
