Footage shows social history of Hambleton

Stokesley Society is hosting an evening entitled Early Films of Yorkshire by the Yorkshire Film Archive on Monday, February 25. The footage will show what life was like in and around the Hambleton district at the beginning of the 20th century. The meeting will take place in the upper room of Stokesley Town Hall, starting at 7.30pm.
TOWN CONCERT: On March 9, Northallerton Male Voice Choir and the Thirsk British Legion Band will be performing a concert at Thirsk town hall. Tickets are £6 and available on the door or from Thirsk Tourist Information centre, White Rose Books or the Artist’s Palette in the town. Doors open 7pm for an 8pm start.
BALLROOM CLASSES: New classes in ballroom, Latin and sequence dancing are starting in Northallerton on Wednesday, February 27. The classes will be held every Wednesday night at Hambleton Forum in the town from 8.30pm until 9.30pm. For more information call 07950 448764.
CRIME SURGERIES: North Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Julia Mulligan, will be holding surgeries where people can feedback their opinion on the draft police and crime plan. There will be a surgery at the Middleham Key Centre near Leyburn on February 22 at 3pm and one on March 1 in Settle at 2.30pm. There will also be regular web chats.
