YOUNGSTERS at a Darlington primary school have sampled a before-and-after-school club to encourage children to get more active.
The Energy Club, which is aimed at children aged four to 11, is being rolled out across England.
It was sampled by children at Corporation Road Primary School, in Darlington today (Wednesday February 6).
The club aims to provide a legacy from the Olympic and Paralympic Games by tackling the increasingly sedentary lives of young children.
Energy Club volunteers include parents and members of school networks.
Emily Burns, North East Energy club co-ordinator, said: “Energy Club is great for children to get involved with.
“Corporation Road Primary School offer Energy Club to their pupils outside of lesson times.
“We highly recommend that other schools in our region get involved, it’s completely free and offers so many benefits for the pupils.
“We absolutely welcome any further pupils and their siblings to come along and join in this fun, free activity.
“Energy Club also needs volunteers to keep this fantastic activity going for children in the area, we would encourage anyone who would like to get involved with the club to come forward and register to ensure that we can continue to provide Energy Club to our children."
