WORK is continuing on the long-awaited revamp of a council-run gym in Darlington.
The gym at the Dolphin Centre closed last weekend and work on the refit began on Monday (February 4), with bosses hopeful it will be completed early next month.
New machines and entertainment systems will be included in the update.
A temporary gym, in the centre’s fitness studio, has been set up to enable people to continue using the facilities during the upheaval.
The last full update of the facilities was in 1994.
Bosses hope the refurbished gym will see more paying customers through the doors and boost public health in Darlington.
