A DARLINGTON Girl Guides group is looking for new recruits following a decline of similar groups around the town.
Northgate Guides is inviting girls over the age of ten to come with their parents to an introductory meeting on Wednesday, February 27, from 7.45pm until 9pm at Northgate United Reformed Church.
It is seen as a chance for people to find out more about what girl-guiding has to offer and to ask any questions they may have.
The meeting will be in the church hall which is accessed from the rear of the church.
Regular meetings are then planned to be held weekly at a day or time still to be confirmed.
This announcement follows the appointment of Judith Aird as the commissioner for North Lodge District Guiding in Darlington.
She wants to reverse the trend in recent years of a drop in numbers in the town centre Rainbow, Brownie and Guide groups.
Mrs Aird said: “We want to be able to offer again the same opportunities for fun, friendship and the development of skills to a wide range of girls.”
