Police issue warning after fake £20 notes are recovered in Sedgefield

POLICE in Sedgefield are warning residents and shopkeepers to be vigilant when accepting cash payments, after forged notes were recovered from a shop in Fishburn.

Two males attempted to use two fake £20 notes in exchange for goods on Saturday, February 2.

Police have seized the notes, which both display the serial number AH03 258434, and enquiries are ongoing with the identified men.

Anyone with information on the production, distribution or passing of counterfeit notes should report it to the police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
