ROSIE Page, the daughter of the James Herriot author Jim Wight has visited Class 3 of All Saints’ RC Primary School, Sowerby, to talk about The World Of James Herriot museum following a class trip there. The pupils are recreating a corner in their classroom about the fictional vet and have acted out sketches and written diary entries in the character of James Herriot.

HISTORIC TALK: Osmotherley Women’s Leisure Society will hear a talk by David Black about the Battle Of The Standard at its meeting at 2pm, on February 13, at the village’s Methodist church.

VOCAL SUPPORT: The 33 members of Thirsk School & Sixth Form College’s Lower School Choir have taken part in a Government initiative to encourage children to sing. Cathy Roberts, music advisor for North Yorkshire, worked with the pupils on a medley of numbers from Rockin’ Robin to Amazing Grace.
