By Dani Webb, Chief Reporter (South Durham)
MORE than 200 litres of kerosene heating fuel, worth about £120, was stolen from a tank outside a village house.
The theft took place in West End Terrace, Cockfield, near Bishop Auckland, between midnight on Thursday, January 31 and 4am the following day.
Police are also investigating the theft of a K-registered green Land Rover Defender 90 turbo diesel from outside a property in Low Road, Gainford, between 7.15pm on Saturday, February 2 and 10am the following day.
PC Ron Creegan said the vehicle was taken without keys and possibly pushed to a quieter area before the engine was started.
Inside the vehicle was three-quarters of a tonne of logs, worth about £100, chainsaw protective equipment valued at £200 and two pairs of boots, of the Hunters and Muckboots brands, each with a value of £50.
Witnesses are asked to call PC Creegan on 101 or via Crimstoppers anonymously 0800-555-111.
