POLICE were called to a school for children with learning difficulties after reports a small number of students were climbing on the roof.
Officers were sent to Priory Hurworth House, a specialist day school near Darlington, shortly before 11am on Monday (February 4).
A spokesman for Darlington police confirmed that no criminal offences had been committed, but that the behaviour of a small number of students had been reported to staff.
Bosses at the school stressed that incidents such as this are rare.
The school has places for up to 40 youngsters with complex needs, including behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.
A spokeswoman for the school said: “We work with very vulnerable children, but it is important that they have boundaries of good behaviour in place.
“Every effort is made - both by working with the children and with physical changes to the building, to ensure that issues such as this do not arise.
“This is a rare occurrence and was resolved very quickly and no one was hurt.
“We will look into the circumstances and take any appropriate action.”
