Church to host Lent discussion groups

LENT discussion groups will be held at Grange Road Baptist Church, in Darlington, on Thursdays, from February 14 to March 21. The groups will have the theme ‘living the life God promised’ and will be held at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. All are welcome.
GET FIT: Pilates classes with Mel Hutchison will be held at Hummersknott Academy on Thursday evenings, from 6pm to 7pm, starting this week. The classes are suitable for all abilities and are aimed at men and women who wish to improve their posture, reduce back or neck pain, increase core strength, stamina and flexibility. ON STAGE: Billed as ‘the most terrifying live theatre experience in the world’, The Woman in Black is being staged at Darlington Civic Theatre until Saturday (February 9). Evening performances start at 7.30pm, with matinees at 2pm on Thursday (February 7) and 2.30pm on Saturday. Tickets prices range from £15 to £23. All seats for the Thursday matinee are priced £15. CLOSING SOON: Embroidery enthusiasts are running out of chances to take in a textiles exhibition, Mining a Golden Seam, by members of the Embroiderers’ Guild in the North East. It is being held at Crown Street Art Gallery, in Darlington, until Thursday, February 21. Steward Christine Flowers said the response from visitors has been positive. WARD SURGERY: Harrowgate Hill councillors Marjory Knowles and John Vasey will hold a ward surgery at Longfield School, from 7pm to 8pm on Tuesday (February 5).
PARISH MEETING: Hurworth Parish Council meets at 7pm on Thursday (February 7), at Hurworth Grange Community Centre. Members will discuss the forthcoming public inquiry over the public right of way issue surrounding Croft Club.
