CHILDREN with nothing to do during the school holidays are being invited to attend football training session across the region.

The sessions in County Durham are aimed at helping youngsters aged between five and 14 years old – including the most inexperienced players – to learn football skills and build their confidence during the February half-term holiday.

Richie Hill, sport and physical development officer at Durham County Council, said: “The On the Ball skills coaching camps are an excellent way to improve your football talents or learn new techniques, whilst enjoying time with friends.”

The holiday camps are being held at Teesdale Leisure Centre in Barnard Castle for ages five to 11 on Thursday and Friday, February 21 and 22, from 1pm to 4pm, and Spennymoor Leisure Centre for the same age range on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 19 and 20, between 1pm and 4pm.

Youngsters aged between five and seven can attend a session at Meadowfield Leisure Centre between 10am and noon on Wednesday and Thursday, February 20 and 21, while the same centre will be running a course on the same days for those aged between eight and 14 form 10am to 3pm.

The session for children aged eight to 14 at Meadowfield Leisure Centre is priced £8 for one day or £12 for two days. All other sessions are £4 for one day or £6 for two days.
